Warner Bros.-based Alcon Entertainment had a successful evening earlier this week at the Academy Awards in Hollywood. Alcon, who will be producing the movie “A Dolphin Tale” about Winter the dolphin and Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA), produced the runaway success “The Blind Side,” which was a finalist for “Best Picture.” Although the film did not win in its category, Sandra Bullock did win “Actress in a Leading Role” for her portrayal of Leann Tuohy in the film, winning over Meryl Streep, amongst other
CMA CEO David Yates was in attendance as an invited guest at the New York premiere of “The Blind Side” this past November. CMA staff also attended Alcon’s January premiere of “The Book of Eli,” starring Denzel Washington.
“A Dolphin Tale,” is based on the true life international story of Winter the dolphin, including her road to survival and use of her prosthetic tail. The movie is expected to begin filming in late 2010, with well-known actor and director Charles Martin Smith (“American Graffiti,” “The Untouchables,” “Air Bud,” etc.) at the helm. Additional details on the movie about Winter will be coming soon.
