CMA resident Winter the dolphin enjoyed a special encounter with Army veteran Brian Brennan, who was seriously injured in Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom, when an IED exploded under his humvee. He miraculously survived and returned home a double amputee. Winter and Brian have a lot in common as they both survived life-threatening injuries, in spite of the odds. And just like Winter, Brian’s compelling life story has become an inspiration to others. Today, they helped each other. “I was very inspired by meeting Winter,” Brennan said. “She is missing a fin and I lost both legs—we are a lot alike.”
CMA, Winter and Brian are supporting the Grand Prix 5K in downtown St. Petersburg Friday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m., to help raise funds for wounded soldiers, spinal cord research and more. Brennan will be participating in the event, as will General David Petraeus, the Commander of U.S. Central Command in Tampa and former Commanding General of the Multi-National Force in Iraq. The 5K will benefit the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation, the Florida Chapter of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, American Spinal Research Organization Shoot for A Cure and Operation Rebound for Wounded Veterans. For more information, visit www.GrandPrix5K.com.
Brennan started the “Brennan Stands Alone Foundation,” to help current and former members of the United States Armed Forces who have been injured in the line of duty. Visit www.brennanstandsalone.org for more information.

Winter is the best rehabiliation aid I’ve come across for wounded veterans. Her “You can do Anything” attitudes helps when doctors can not.. As we say “Tango Yankee” little lady.. See you in 6 day. Momma Dana
