CMA Garnered Five Awards for Media Coverage from Sea Turtle “Cold Stun” Event

CMA won five awards at the 2010 Image Awards, an annual competition sponsored by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA). CMA earned the competition’s biggest honor—the “Grand All Image Award.”

CMA also won a “Grand Image Award,” (another top award), two Image Awards and one Judge’s Award. The Image Awards competition recognizes companies that exhibit and employ comprehensive public relations projects that meet the highest standards of excellence in four components of PR programming: research, planning, execution and evaluation. An Image Award is presented to the top-scoring entry in each category and Grand Image Awards are given to the top entry for each division.

During the cold weather snap earlier this year, more than 5,000 sea turtles washed up with “cold stun” and CMA rescued, rehabilitated and released more than 100 of them. Over a two-month span, CMA experienced steady media coverage, with about 150 media stories and 6 million media impressions in local and national media outlets. This media coverage allowed CMA to continue to spread the word about its important mission to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick or injured marine life.

In the News Release category, CMA won a Grand Image Award and an Image Award for “CMA’s Efforts to Save Sea Turtles a Major Media Success.”

In the Institutional category, CMA won the Grand All Image Award, an Image Award and a Judge’s Award for “CMA’s Efforts to Save Sea Turtles Garner Major Public Support.”

Over the last two years, CMA has won 16 local and state public relations awards. CMA’s winning entries will now advance to FPRA’s statewide level of competition, the Golden Image Awards. Those awards will be announced on August 10 in Naples.
