CLEARWATER MARINE AQUARIUM APPOINTS FOUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS

cmalogoClearwater, FL (May 21, 2010) – Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is pleased to announce it has appointed four new members to its board. New members include Bright House Networks Marketing Relations Representative Jen Holloway, former district manager for J. Polep Distribution Services Stephen Kisner, former Clearwater City Councilmember Carlen Peterson and Harry Rabb, CPA. CMA now has 22 people on its board.

CMA Board Chairman Tom Orr said, “The CMA Board of Directors is excited to have recently added four new highly accredited directors to our organization. As we continue to grow, it’s important to add key people to the board that can help us reach the next level.”

Here is additional information about the new members:

• Jen Holloway – Holloway is the former morning anchor on Bay News 9 in Tampa. She has an extensive and diverse career in news broadcasting, voiceovers, commercials and infomercials. She also works with a variety of community organizations, including All Children’s Hospital, Junior Achievement, the Cancer Society and more.

• Stephen Kisner – Kisner served as the district manager for J. Polep Distribution Services for almost 17 years. He strongly believes in supporting education, research and protection of animals and wildlife.

• Carlen Petersen – Petersen served as a Clearwater City Councilmember for six years and previously served as assistant city corporation counsel for the City of Chicago. She serves on several boards, including the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the Homeless Leadership Network, Pinellas County Health & Human Services Coordinating Council and more.

• Harry Rabb – Rabb owns Cormier & Rabb, CPAs, a full service accounting and consulting firm. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Tax Section.

BACKGROUND:

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a Florida non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to marine life rescue, rehabilitation and release, and environmental education. CMA is home to dolphins, sea turtles, river otters, stingrays, nurse sharks and more. Winter the dolphin’s story of survival and inspiration has touched millions of people around the world. A movie about her life story is in the works with Warner Bros.-based Alcon Entertainment. Her documentary, “Winter: The Dolphin that Could” is available at www.SeeWinter.com. The film takes viewers on an extraordinary journey through her rescue, fight to stay alive and extensive rehabilitation. Scholastic published Winter’s Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again in October 2009.

Looks like you have selected really super people. I have seen Jen on TV…truly I think highly of her.
Seems good things are happening at CMA!!!
I love what you all do and what CMA has accomplished and your alls mission!
Hopefully, I will have a schedule in the future to be part of your mission to help so many marine animals.
Winter, is my favourite there. I follow her on FB. What an inspiration to all of us.
Keep up the excellent work everybody, you are doing wonderful things there!!! :-)
