Pinellas County and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium are in the beginning of sea turtle nesting season right now, with loggerhead sea turtle females making their way to the beaches to lay their nests. In the past week, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium has responded to two dead boat strike female loggerhead sea turtles in Pinellas County.
These mama sea turtles were most likely hit by boats on their way in shore, or on their way out after possibly laying their nests on our beaches. As boaters, please be careful of your speed when you are in the coastal areas, especially from dusk until dawn so mama loggerhead sea turtles can make their way to the beaches to continue what they have done for millions of years!
Help the hatchlings survive, by adopting one of our Nests!!
